About Animal Pocket

Animal Pocket is a collectible card game played in the browser. Each card represents a real species: a wild animal, a companion animal or a dinosaur. The card shows a photo, the scientific name, the mass, the habitat and the conservation status of the species.
What the game offers
The collection has 211 cards split across three booster universes: wildlife, companions and dinosaurs. Seven biomes group the species, from the ocean to the arctic mountains. You open boosters, complete your collection, face other players and trade cards on the market.
Where the data comes from
Names, habitats and conservation statuses come from Wikidata, which reproduces data from the IUCN Red List. Photographs and distribution maps come from Wikimedia Commons and Wikipedia, under free licences; each card shows its author and licence. This information is for learning: for scientific use, consult the original sources.
A sober design
The site is designed to use little: system fonts, lightweight images in modern formats, few requests and weight budgets checked at every release. Each visit therefore weighs as little as possible on resources.
